What "REDACTED FOR PRIVACY" means
Since 2018 (GDPR), registries hide individuals' names, emails and phone numbers by default. Seeing "REDACTED FOR PRIVACY", "Data Protected" or TRABİS's "Hidden upon user request" does not mean a site is suspicious; the majority of records look like this today. Our tool marks these fields as "Hidden" and does not count them against the score on their own.
How privacy proxies work
Some records show an intermediary like "Privacy Protect, LLC" instead of the owner: the registrar's privacy service writes its own details into the ledger and forwards incoming contact to the real owner. Legally the domain is still yours; only the shop-window name changes.
Reaching an owner despite redaction
If you have a legitimate reason (a purchase offer, a legal notice): use the relay email left in the whois output (most privacy services leave an abuse or forwarding address), check the site's own contact page, or file through the registrar's official contact form. Registries must also disclose data to authorities on valid legal requests.

How do I hide my own domain's whois data?
Enable "Whois Privacy" in your registrar panel; many registrars now include it for free. For .tr domains, individual registrations are hidden by TRABİS by default.
Doesn't hidden whois make fraud easier?
Not by itself: age, registration date and site behaviour matter far more in fraud assessment. A day-old, privacy-protected site imitating a brand, however, is the classic warning trio.
